Oke Anakwenze, MD, MBA is an orthopedic surgeon and Chief of shoulder surgery at Duke. He is one of the hardest working surgeons and on top of it all, also recently completed his MBA. We hear about his passion for education and being a mentor, which he learned from his own mentor, Dr. Bill Levine.

-He grew up in Nigeria until 13 years old. He was told his career options included doctor, lawyer or engineer and is what helped drive him to become an orthopedic surgeon.
-We hear all about how he got to where he is today at Duke. He attended University of California, Davis for undergraduate and went on to complete his medical education at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Anakwenze then spent a year at Columbia University completing a shoulder and elbow fellowship. He then worked within the Kaiser system before venturing out to build his own surgical practice and outpatient joint replacement center. He also obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from UCLA.
