We have Dr. Nima Mehran on for this episode, sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente. He did his sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic where he had the opportunity to take care of athletes from the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Kings, Sparks, the Anaheim Ducks, and the USC Trojans football team. Dr. Mehran is infectious in his positive attitude, has great energy, powerful on social media and upping the game in sports medicine. Topics include:

-His story of wanting to be an orthopedic surgeon since he was a child. He attended USC and received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School. Dr. Mehran completed his orthopedic residency at Henry Ford and for his fellowship, it was KJOC or bust!

-You can take a stone and throw it, you will hit an excellent ortho surgeon in LA. Everyone is great in LA! We discuss the importance of local care for patients within the Kaiser model.

-He has 19,000 followers on Instagram! He has an upcoming AAOS Academy talk with The Ortho Show alum, Dr. Okoroha, on how to integrate social media into your practice. His advice is 1.) Don’t post just to post 2.) Be yourself and be genuine 3.) Don’t give medical advice: it’s a slippery slope 4.) Be respectful and understand perspectives.
